I'm not one for DIY's, but I was when I was like 14 years old. The idea of making my own notebooks and agendas and all of that made me the happiest girl in the world. As I got older I had less time and I guess I stopped caring if I made my own notebooks and sketchbooks and just bought whatever I wanted (wow what is this story so far.). But Josh is always telling me how he loves how creative I am so I do love trying a little harder when it comes to making him things. Every time I draw him something or make him anything I like trying new things and being better than the time before. So I decided on this week-long project and I'm very proud of how it came out.
I created a book titled Five Things I Adore About You. I've actually always wanted to make something like this, I'm very happy I got to make it for someone special in my life <3 I got all the supplies from Michaels and had to do quite a bit of planning and cutting and gluing and measuring! I'm actually grateful for the snow day yesterday because about 1/4 of this was done yesterday.
Now, I don't want to post the entire book on here because it's very personal, but I did want to show tidbits of the illustrations I did for it! The book is 6 pages long.
If you're ever looking to give someone different and cute for Valentine's Day, I think something like this is perfect! It takes a good amount of time but you can really tell when you look at it. Plus, as an artist, seeing all the supplies you can work with at an Arts and Crafts store like Michaels was inspiring enough to bring me back to my 14 year old self and want to squee all over the store.
I hope everyone is having a very nice Valentine's Day! I'm lucky enough to be able to spend it with Josh this year. We couldn't spend our first Valentine's Day together because he was studying in Spain but he lovingly sent me roses as a surprise to my doorstep <3 I'd like to believe that Valentine's Day is a time to be surrounded by pink and red hearts, lace and lovey-dovey messages. I don't think there's any need to get down about your relationship status. I hate it when people say things like Single Awareness day or openly telling people Valentine's Day is bullshit. Some of us enjoy it, and others don't, no need to be so openly negative about it! One would hope that the days in your relationship are as happy as they can be, but I think it's ok to want to celebrate Valentine's Day, no matter how you want to! What I'm most happy about is being able to see Josh because there are so many people in relationships that don't have the luxury of even that. Or you know, if you don't like Valentine's Day, you could just shrug, make a bowl of popcorn and watch a whole bunch of movies in the comfort of your pjs at home. I mean, I think that sounds pretty good, too.
