What's In My Makeup Bags (Everyday and Overnight)

I’ve been doing a good amount of traveling lately and as much as I’d like to take most of my makeup collection with me, it’s such a pain to think “Ok which lipstick would be best for these couple of outfits I’m bringing?” and end up packing everything. This adds so much weight to my bag and for what? I don’t even end up using half of what I bring!

Though I do love to buy makeup and try brands out, I’ve found over the past few weeks that I do well without a lot of it. I ended up packing an essential bag that carries more of what I actually use and definitely need with me. This is going to be a post for my makeup bag that I carry around in my purse as well as my overnight makeup bag that I’ve had to pack for the past few weeks.

The first thing I pack is my L’oreal True Match Super-Blendable Compact Makeup and my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I’ve been blessed with clear skin but sometimes I need to cover up a few spots, under eye circles and just even out my skin color. I’ve tried different foundations from drugstore brands to high-end brands and just don’t like what it does to my skin. I have oily skin in the summer and dry skin in the winter so I have to switch up my skincare routine. I’ve been focusing a lot on skincare this year and would like to write about that in another post! My Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer isn’t pictured here but if I’m not reaching for my compact makeup, I grab that! It’s amazing at covering up my under eye circles when I need it!

The next thing I can’t live without is the Too Faced Soul Mates Blush Bronzer Duo in Carrie and Big. Though it’s a bronzer I use it as blush and it is the best I’ve ever tried! I love the subtle color it gives my cheeks and how light it feels on my skin. Plus it’s Carrie and Big, my number one OTP <3

I’ve tried a good amount of mascara and I keep coming back to Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara. I have a tiny one I carry in my makeup bag in my purse and a full sized one in my overnight makeup bag. The drugstore mascara that I think comes close to this is the Volum’ Express Pumped Up Colossal Mascara by Maybelline, which is another of my favorites. If I can’t get my hands on Too Faced, I’ll go for Maybelline’s mascara. Oh and of course my lash curler!

Now, I think out of all the types of makeup there is, lip products have to be my number one. Lip balm or lipsticks, I always seem to find one I love and stick with it for a couple of weeks and then move on to another one. This has been the only lipstick I have ever stuck with for as long as I have. I love this beautiful shade and find it’s good for work, socializing and dates~

That’s pretty much it for my overnight makeup bag. I know there isn’t much there but honestly I don’t feel like I need a lot. I carry a little more in my makeup bag in my purse because if I ever have to spontaneously stay that night at my parents’ place or something I want to feel like I have what I need! Though usually I ever just reach for my lip balm. I rarely touch up my makeup but I don’t know, I like having the comfort of my makeup bag in my purse >.<

The L’oreal True Match Super-Blendable Compact Makeup stays with me in case I get a random spot or breakout throughout the day. I have this terrible habit of only using the product in the center and what ends up happening is the product being scrunched up on the sides of the compact! I put this in my purse so I can use it to touch up if I need to. It serves its purpose and I don’t feel like I’m wasting as much product.

I have a tiny tube of Better than Sex mascara in case I end up going out with friends or go on a spontaneous date with Josh and I can’t stop by the house. I also have the travel SmashBox Full Exposure palette in case I want to add color to my look. I use a lotion for my hands that was gifted to me by a friend for Christmas and I love how hydrating it is <3 I have a comb that is probably the only thing in there that I use regularly along with some hair ties. I’ve been caught too many times without them and IT IS AWFUL.

The last things are lip balms/sticks/glosses. The only lipstick I carry in my bag is one I got in a gift from Lancôme. It’s a very flattering color for Winter, but I’m going to have to switch it out now that the weather is getting warmer. I have my Baby Lips in a berry color that helps when my lips are really dry and an Apricot Stick from Etude House. We have an H-mart near us that sells Korean beauty products and their lip products are amazing. This Apricot Stick gives me a tint of color along with excellent hydration. I find myself reaching for it all the time. The brown tube is a Shea Butter Lip Care Cream from Lovely. It smells amazing and it’s great for days when I don’t even want any color on my lips except my own. The Dolly My Enamel Lip Gloss is also from Etude House and it smells like strawberry jam and gives my lips the nicest color! It’s the only gloss I like applying when I need something subtle.

Well that’s all I use! Sometimes I switch things out but only if I really fall in love with a product. I’ll follow up with my skin care at some point! I think that changes more than my makeup uses.
